Education & Training – Cloud Foundations

The purpose of our training course is to deliver a quick start intro to the key concepts, services and considerations for effective use of AWS based on lessons learned from over 100 successful AWS projects over 5 years, as well as the experiences gleaned from running events including the AWS Brisbane Usergroup, Warrior Wednesday and Cloud Round The Corner.

Itoc training programs are all based upon AWS internal training and workshops. We design our labs with the knowledge from thousands of hours of real world experience. The AWS Well-Architected Framework (WAF) has been developed to help cloud architects build the most secure, high-performing, resilient, and efficient infrastructure possible for their applications. The five pillars interwoven into the training materials are; Operational Excellence, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency and Cost Optimisation.

We have provided a request letter here for management sign-off which we have found has been helpful in past.

Afternoon Labs

We usually can accommodate 3 to 4 labs in an afternoon time providing. They can be taught in two ways, manual or by code automation methods

  • The AWS console which will require students to manually build the stacks through the mouse driven UI.
  • For those who are confident with command line administration we can offer these labs entirely demonstrated through automation. Students will be hands-on and build the codebase that will automate build, deploy and monitor operation of the environments.

Demonstration path chosen is a decision based upon technical comfort levels.

The standard set

Lab  – A Hands-on intro with the CLI – Amazon VPC, EC2, Amazon S3 and Amazon EBS
Lab  – Build a VPC and deploy an auto-scaling HA Web Server web app
Lab  – Introducing and adding CloudFront CDN for global access
Lab  – A simple platform migration to AWS

AotP – Art of the Possible
These are some of the other labs we can interchange with the standard set if there are specialisation interests.

Lab – Databases – RDS (Oracle, MSSQL, Aurora)
Lab – Migration from Oracle / SQL Server to AWS Aurora
Lab – Big data migration and management

Lab – Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML)
Lab – High speed in-memory caching
Lab – Serverless and Container based computing
Lab – High Performance Computing (HPC)

Lab – Regulation in the Financial Services industry
Lab – Complex security architectures

Custom Lab

If you wish to explore a custom scenario we usually need a week or so advance notice to construct the materials and reconfigure the lab. Most technical and business scenarios we can cater for.
