AWS announced 1,500 service improvements in 2021
In 2021, so far, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has made over 1,500 announcements for new products, service improvements and global expansion. With AWS re:Invent just around the corner, it’s time to re-review your current AWS workloads and ensure you’re taking advantage of the most advanced innovation and product development available from AWS, keeping technical debt at bay. Ask yourself the question: “Are we still Well-Architected?”
This year Itoc has seen customers building on their established AWS workloads and adopting modern serverless architectures, significantly reducing their costs and time to market.
For more complex compute environments, customers are adopting new developments to host and manage containerised workloads. AWS now supports running containers within Lambda functions and has simplified container management through Amazon Elastic Container Service with Fargate.
As workload sizes increase, it’s essential to review your cloud security. Itoc has seen the continued adoption of AWS Single Sign-On to simplify identity management and improve protection by removing the need for long term security credentials on developer laptops.
Are you still using a VPN? Customers using Virtual Private Networks (VPN’s) and ‘jump boxes’ should evaluate AWS Systems Manager Session Manager as a lower cost, more straightforward and auditable alternative.
The Well-Architected Framework is AWS’ benchmarking tool to evaluate existing workloads against best practices for building secure, high-performing, resilient, and efficient infrastructure. AWS recommends that a Well-Architected Framework Review be performed at least once per year or after any major change in your AWS hosted workloads.
As an official AWS Well-Architected Framework Review partner, and Australian AWS Consulting Partner of the Year 2021, Itoc can help your team stay on top of AWS’ rapidly changing landscape and ensure you remain Well-Architected. Regardless of whether it is your first, second or tenth Well-Architected Framework Review, we’re ready to assist, with a no-cost, no-obligation review of your workloads.
